Play Street: SHF17

Play Street was an interactive window display located in an empty shopfront on Devonshire St near the Shakespeare Hotel. It was commissioned by the Surry Hills Festival 2017 as part of the DOUBLE TAKE program, alongside AKISIEW, Astrid Howard, Liz Bradshaw, Esem Projects, Deep Sea Astronoauts and many many more.

During workshops and an interactive stall, festival goers and passers-by were invited to use their imagination in making their mark on the ever-evolving cardboard streetscape. Patch provided primed templates of houses for painting on, or you could chose to make your own.

Workshops were also held in the weeks following the SHF. One workshop was held with young makers from Crown Street Public School. Their contributions were fantastic; inventive, bold and colourful!
